Front the Most 2010 – Top Ten Shining MCs
As the Event following the First Round, Front the Most 2010 – the English MC Contest, organized by English Club, has completed with the exploded Final Round in the excitement of all audiences, judges, candidates and ECers.
EC would like to send our first thank to over 150 guests, with all your devoted hearts to this event, coming and cheering for 10 candidates. EC also want to say a thank-you to three judges, Mr. Zack from IELTS Academy, Ms. Severine (MC of Talk Vietnam), and Ms. Phuong (MC VTV4), with your fairly accurate and impartial judgment in choosing the most talented MCs to be gloried. We also send our solemn thank to our sponsors, IELTS Academy and Thai Ha Books, for your kind supports and contributions to the success of Front the Most from the beginning. Last but not least, EC want to express a sincere gratitude toward the 10 candidates, not only for their painstaking efforts from Round 1 to the Final Round, but also their wonderful confidence and enthusiasm that burned the stage atmosphere in the mid of winter.
The final round timely started at 4:00 pm, in Vietnam-Japanese Human Resource Cooperation Center (VJCC), Foreign Trade University. For a start, Ms. Hong Trang, EC’s President, announced the beginning of Final Round and handed on the certificates to sponsors.
In the final round, 10 candidates, 10 MCs had to be randomly challenged in two tasks: the SOLO and the DUO.
In the SOLO task, every of 10 candidates introduced and performed his or her assigned show in about 5 minutes. They were given their tasks and requirements 5 minutes earlier to prepare. Those assigned shows varied from the Singing Contest for Christmas to the talk show with an artist, and it appeared that all candidates were quite confident in introducing their shows excitedly. However, the toughest part in this task lied in problems which were created by the trouble makers, an exclusive and distinctive point of Front the Most.
Who were they, the trouble makers? They could be anyone, guests in talk show, a member of the audience, and so on. What did they do? Making troubles, trying to disturb the stage by crying, being anger, everything that challenged the MC’s confidence and skills to stabilize the stage and run on the shows. Interestingly, all MCs quite prepared so hard and calmly tackled their problems in their uniquely own ways that surprised audience and judges many times.
After 10 Solo performances, our candidates had a short break to prepare for task 2- the DUO.
During the break, the audience had relieved by singing performances and exchanged with two special guests, Mr. Pham Xuan Bach – the FTM 2009 winner, and Ms. Ta Dieu Hong- one of the best couple in FTM 2009. They shared the influence the FTM 09 had on them and their changes in academic and curriculum activities, both sharing the grateful thanks and lucky wishes to the 10 performing candidates.
In the DUO task, 10 candidates were divided into 5 pairs randomly; each pair had 7 minutes to prepare together a talk show. Actually, it was quite hard for them to collaborate harmoniously in the talk show requiring involvement of both two MCs, with only few minutes of preparation. However, all five pairs not only cooperated well to talk and question the guest, but also showed unique interesting styles. Each audience was given a balloon to vote for the most favorite couple, which would be announced later.
In the end, all 10 candidates joined hand to altogether sing a song “Bring it all back” that really exploded the stage.
I’ve been really impressed by all the candidates, especially last week, you guys has shown how confident you are, how good English command you have; and this week, you are even better. Everyone really worked very hard, made a lot of improvements, and it is my pleasure to watch everyone on the stage today. —Mr Zach Pinson – Ielts Academy
