The voluntary campaign of summer 2008 is definitely an unforgettable one for FTU's students, with a lot of memories and happiness. Right after the campaign's launch, three aiding teams were set up with 150 members each; they worked at three test sites and along the way to each site. They gave assistance to examinees and their parents, provided useful instructions regarding the registration procedure and the test site's map, looked after the examinees' bags during the examination, helped directing the traffic to avoid congestion, and many other things. In spite of the fact that it's so tiring and muggy caused by the hot weather, all volunteers still kept up their spirit, directly gave help to over 3000 examinees, partially cleared away their difficulties and confusion. Along with the mentioned campaign, FTUers also organized "Heading for the countryside", which was responded enthusiastically by many students. 6 voluntary teams went to remote areas in Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Bac Giang, Nghe An, Vinh and Hai Phong to help people there. For a few weeks, the young volunteers had lived and worked together with local residents, and made deep impression on them about their spirit, enthusiasm, high responsibility and commitment. They also received a lot of help and approval from local Youth's Union officer, local youth organizations and voluntary teams from other schools. FTUers had joined in some local work, like building houses for the poor, mending the downgraded roads, building irrigation canals, helping with farm work, etc. In addition, they also enriched the spiritual life of local people by co-organizing cultural nights, showing films, teaching children and donating books, clothes, magazines and money. Last but not least, the volunteer summer couldn't have been so meaningful if there hadn't been the sponsorship and donation of Hai Tien company. By donating over 35,000 notebooks and covering almost all expenses, the company truly contributed much to the success and meaning of FTU's voluntary campaign. This helps strengthening the relationship between the company and the school and shows up its concern towards social activities.
